"We are revolutionizing food distribution in the food service industry"

The professional catering sector is facing huge challenges: while operating costs are constantly rising, the staffing situation continues to be tense. B.PRO GmbH is therefore developing future-oriented catering solutions based on three pillars: automation, digitalization and developing the portfolio. In this interview, CEO Egon Kofler provides exclusive insights into the company's future strategy.

Key factors for change

"We need to move faster than change through proactive change management and make decisions now that will be relevant in the coming years," says Egon Kofler, Managing Director of the Baden-based company since October 2020. Strong partnerships, a holistic consulting approach and new, technology-driven products and services are key factors here. "We will revolutionise food distribution - and thus play a decisive role in shaping the future of professional kitchens."

Automation reduces the workload

One important component is the topic of automation. "It's about technology taking over physically demanding and repetitive tasks in communal catering," explains Egon Kofler. "This means that fewer staff are needed, the existing staff are relieved and man and machine work hand in hand."

With cutlery sorting and packaging machines, modular components from the food conveyor belt to the tray scraper as well as buffer and conveyor technology for an uninterrupted process chain in kitchen technology, B.PRO and its subsidiary BRIMATO already have an extensive range of automation products. An ideal starting point for future innovations, as Egon Kofler emphasises: "The area will be further expanded and individually adapted to customer requirements. The aim is to fully automate food distribution."

Everything at a glance thanks to digitalisation

"Digitalisation ensures simpler, more transparent processes," says the CEO, naming a key advantage of the second strategic pillar. "For example, hygiene standards can be ensured and verification obligations can be fully complied with thanks to digital HACCP documentation. Last but not least, the evaluation of the data serves as a basis for optimising processes in the canteen kitchen." The B.PROTHERM E food transport trolley, which enables comprehensive digital hygiene, temperature and process management in conjunction with the QM-Spot software tool, shows what this can look like in practice.

Expanded portfolio to become a provider of system solutions

The demands on a professional kitchen are becoming increasingly complex - and B.PRO is also redefining its role: "It's about taking a holistic view of requirements," emphasises Egon Kofler. The focus is no longer on the individual product. "Ideally, customers want solutions for complete food serving and distribution processes. In order to implement this strategy in the best possible way, we will continue to develop our service and product portfolio in a continuous and coherent manner, as well as increasingly cooperating with other companies whose offerings complement ours perfectly."

A perfect example of this approach is the cooperation between B.PRO and temp-rite from Bremen: The two companies have jointly launched the JUNIOR-SERVE all-in-one serving system for daycare centres and schools. This already provides an answer to the pressing catering issues that many providers will face with the legal entitlement to all-day care in primary schools from 2026.

Continuous monitoring of customer journey automation

Digitalisation and the optimisation of the product portfolio: with this clear strategy for the future, B.PRO is sharpening its profile for the long term - very close to the needs of professional kitchens. "We want to position ourselves as a reliable partner along the entire customer journey, providing customers with continuous support beyond after sales and service," says CEO Egon Kofler.
